16BitPete

Michael Guinn, known as Michael G., is an actor, musician, and writer formally trained at the University of California. He moved to Tokyo in the late 80s, just ahead of the original PlayStation era. After a breakout Sony Walkman commercial, Sony signed him under the name Michael G., beginning a prolific run across Japanese media and games. He costarred with Michiru Akiyoshi on J Wave’s Friday night Club de Tokio as “The Famous Bartender,” improvising character voices live on air that soon led to early arcade roles.

Across dozens of titles, he is best known as Harry Mason in Silent Hill (1999) and Dracula in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (1997). Other notable credits include the narrator in Tobal 2 (1997), the villain Sherudo Garo in Time Crisis (1995), and the announcer in Ridge Racer (1995), the first PlayStation game released in the United States. From grounded leads to memorable antagonists and distinctive narration, Michael brings a precise sense of timing and musicality that audiences remember long after the credits roll.

His career bridges radio, television, arcades, and console blockbusters, giving his work lasting reach with fans in the United States, Japan and around the world.
