OZ: The Emerald Nightmare

Ever wonder how the Wonderful Wizard of Oz came to be as a story? Read the true tale of Oz and Dorothy's Nightmarish journey to escape. Homestead

It is 1868 in North Dakota and retired soldier Bill Simmons is starting a new life with his new family on land issued to him as part of the Homestead Act. Unbeknownst to him, the land he has been granted by the United States government overlaps with territories occupied by the Lakota Nation, including a proud warrior and a zealous medicine man willing to go to supernatural extremes in order to protect people, their loved ones, and their way of life.

Les L. Garner is the author and artist of the creator owned title Apocalypse Girl, as well as artist/co-creator of old west horror comic "Homestead" available for order in spring 2023, and cover artist/painter for a growing list of comics including the upcoming “Reign of Dracula” series. A proud Kentuckian, Les has worked in and around the comic book, gaming and film industries for 30 years as an artist, writer, producer and 3D animator/director.

On February 20, 2023, Les suffered a double ischemic stroke, resulting in full left side paralysis. after being told he would never walk again and contrary to doctor's prognosis, Les' recovery has been rapid and strong, regaining most function of his leg and with the left arm well on its way. Les has completed artwork for more than five new comics since the stroke, and is happily working harder than ever with an incredibly bright future and many projects ahead.
